EBL organized a reception titled Saluting a business icon to felicitate Mr Latifur Rahman for winning the prestigious Oslo Business for Peace Award 2012 at The Westin Dhaka on 23rd May 2012 Rahman is the first Bangladeshi to receive this award Speakers at the event lauded his leadership integrity ethical standards and business acumen
Sir Fazle Hasan Abed KCMG in his speech as chief guest called him a fellow social worker He said Latifur Rahman has made service to society through business enterprise as his main objective in life and he has indeed succeeded more than most I congratulate him not just as a business person but also as a fellow social worker
Special guest of the evening Ragne Birte Lund Ambassador of Norway to Bangladesh said By setting up numerous prosperous new enterprises while simultaneously maintaining a vocal stance against unethical business practices Mr Latifur Rahman is truly a worthy leader of the Bangladeshi business community His advocacy to for high standards his high level of corporate governance and his vision to serve the broader community and the people are other examples of his engagement for ethical business
