Eastern Bank Ltd. (EBL) and Sena Kalyan Sangstha (SKS) will work together to roll out a special COVID-19 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Program for the coronavirus affected populations of the Rajshahi and Khulna divisional districts and other affected areas of Bangladesh. A cheque for TK 2 million was handed over to the chairman of SKS Maj Gen Mohammed Saidul Islam, ndc, psc by Managing Director and CEO of EBL Ali Reza Iftekhar at a simple ceremony held at the SKS Tower at the city’s Mohakhali area to roll out the program.

SKS will distribute food support, cash support, medical equipment, medical expenses and other aid in Khulna and Rajshahi Division and other affected areas of Bangladesh.

SKS chairman said, ‘We are happy to be partnering with EBL. Welfare is in the DNA of SKS and if corporate houses come forward to humanitarian work in a greater way we can transform the society for a better tomorrow.’

Managing Director and CEO reiterated EBL’s commitment to greater common good of the society and said, ‘Partnering with an organization like Sena Kalyan Sangstha is an honor and privilege. Our partnership will be stronger and more cemented in future.’

EBL has so far contributed Taka 3 crore 56lac as financial aid to fight against coronavirus pandemic through BURO Bangladesh, SAJIDA Foundation, TMSS, Bidyanondo, BRAC and ActionAid Bangladesh in the districts of Chandpur, Gazipur, Bogura, Sirajganj, Dinajpur, Naogaon, Chapainawabganj, Jamalpur, Mymensingh, Nawabganj, Jashore, Rajshahi, Khulna andChattogram, Faridpur and Magura through district commissioners’ offices. This fund was used for food and medicine assistance and cash support to daily wage earners and the extremely poor across the country. EBL also donated to the corona unit of Jashore General Hospital managed by SAJIDA Foundation. EBL will disburse a total of TK. 4.10 crore under the special COVID-19 Corporate Social Responsibility Program.
